Finding God
There is only one way to come to know God and be in fellowship with Him, and that is the Bible way.
Jesus Christ said, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me” (John 14:6).
In order to truly be one of God’s saved believers, we have to know why we need salvation. When God created the world including the first man and woman, everything was perfect. However, we understand from the Genesis account that God wanted His creation of humankind to serve Him willingly, so He provided a test which required them making a choice.
THE SCRIPTURE READS:
“THEN THE LORD GOD TOOK THE MAN AND PUT HIM IN THE GARDEN OF EDEN TO TEND AND KEEP IT. AND THE LORD GOD COMMANDED THE MAN, SAYING, ‘OF EVERY TREE OF THE GARDEN YOU MAY FREELY EAT; BUT OF THE TREE OF THE KNOWLEDGE OF GOOD AND EVIL YOU SHALL NOT EAT, FOR IN THE DAY THAT YOU EAT OF IT YOU SHALL SURELY DIE [OR, DYING YOU SHALL DIE]’” (GENESIS 2:15—17). “
The bad news is that Adam disobeyed God’s command and committed the first sin. From that moment on Adam and Eve lost spiritual fellowship with God, and the physical process of death began to take effect in their bodies. God showed them that only through the shedding of innocent blood was it possible to remedy the problem of sin and be forgiven. All through the centuries leading up to the time Christ entered history as a man, God instructed His people to offer animal sacrifices. However, after Christ died for the sins of the world on the cross, shedding His innocent sinless blood, the way of forgiveness and salvation was opened up for all who will believe.
Since that time millions of people around the world have responded to God’s invitation to find forgiveness for their sins (everyone has sinned), and entered into a personal relationship with God through faith in Jesus Christ and what He accomplished for us on the cross.
JOHN 3:16 SAYS:
“FOR GOD SO LOVED THE WORLD THAT HE GAVE HIS ONLY BEGOTTEN SON, THAT WHOEVER BELIEVES IN HIM SHOULD NOT PERISH BUT HAVE ETERNAL LIFE.”
It is not difficult to come into relationship with God. First, accept that fact that you need forgiveness of your sins, faults, and failures, and that you need salvation. Second, simply ask Him to forgive you and save you because you believe that Jesus Christ died for you on the cross. Then commit to giving your life to Him from this time on.
Simply talk to God as you would another person. He has promised to hear and answer your sincere prayer.
JESUS SAID:
“ASK, AND IT WILL BE GIVEN TO YOU; SEEK, AND YOU WILL FIND; KNOCK, AND IT WILL BE OPENED TO YOU. FOR EVERYONE WHO ASKS RECEIVES, AND HE WHO SEEKS FINDS, AND TO HIM WHO KNOCKS IT WILL BE OPENED” (MATTHEW 7:7—8).
