Is there hope for this land of the free?

Two Kinds Of Freedom

Physical and Spiritual freedom

We have a model of the famous Liberty Bell located in the foyer of our museum. It is called the Liberty Bell because of the biblical inscription from the Book of Leviticus 25:10 emblazoned around it which reads:

“Proclaim liberty throughout the land unto all the inhabitants thereof.”

On July 4, 1776 Congress voted to approve the Declaration of Independence from Britain. Four days later on July 8, the bell hanging in the tower of Independence Hall, now known as the Liberty Bell, was rung to call citizens together to hear the reading of this declaration. It is not known for sure when the current crack in the bell first appeared, but all agree that it finally became unusable after it was rung to commemorate George Washington’s 112th birthday. It is located today at the Liberty Bell Center in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

It was an amazing achievement of America’s Founding Fathers to gain independence and have the opportunity to forge and found this new nation. Did they claim credit for this? Not as far as we can tell from the records and their writings. In fact, they literally put their lives in physical danger because the battles were not yet over. But victory was gained, and America became possibly the only nation other than ancient Israel to be founded on biblical principles of law and justice and belief in God.

Yes, America’s citizens have enjoyed wonderful freedom unknown to many other nations around the world. But what have we observed happening over the last hundred years? Unfortunately we have seen freedoms gradually eroding, and in the last few years of this twenty-first-century we watched as many American leaders have turned their backs on God, the Bible and its moral teachings.

Is there hope for this land of the free? Billy Graham’s son, Franklin, has declared that the only hope for America is prayer. I agree, but would add clarification that to be effective, only prayer made exclusively to the One and only True God of the Bible will produce long-term beneficial results.

This is why our Creation Experience Museum unashamedly and unequivocally makes the Bible the foundation. We consider it critically important that the hundreds of young people who are brought to our museum be encouraged and become excited to make God’s Word preeminent in their lives. If this happens we can expect them to become good future citizens who will support righteousness and biblical morality.

True freedom comes only from knowing God personally. In John 8:31,32 Jesus said:

“If you abide in My Word, you are My disciples indeed. And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.”

The ministry of CMOTO stands firmly on the unchangeable truths of the Bible, and if ridicule and persecution comes we will surely rejoice for the privilege.

The Rest of the Question

We’ve all been asked the question. “Why does God allow evil in the world?” But there is another side to that question, a query that cannot be addressed by logic, history, or facts. It’s the heart behind the question, often a bruised heart deeply wounded by evil, loss, or betrayal.

The Old Testament: Mountains of Evidence

In the previous month of Creation Matters, we examined answers to the question “How do we know Genesis (and for that matter the entire Old Testament) has been accurately preserved to our time?” In this article, we will unpack a very, very brief overview of the scientific and scholarly side of this question, touching on early manuscripts, scribal practice, and ancient witnesses to the O.T. text.
