Don’t Be Deceived: Part 2

How do we get a Biblical paradigm? By reading and studying the Bible, with the help of the Holy Spirit, and choosing to believe every word is true. We must immerse ourselves in God’s Word and meditate on it like King David did. Put Scriptures on post-it notes and place them where you will see them often. Choose a plan that helps you read through the Bible in a year. If you read one chapter of the Bible a day, you will read through it several times over a lifetime. We can share what we are learning in God’s Word with friends or family, verbally or in writing. I learn much more when I turn around and share something I’m learning with someone else.

If the thought of reading and studying the whole Bible is overwhelming, then start at the beginning and focus on Genesis. The first 3 chapters of the Bible explain the origins of the universe and earth, along with its plants, animals, and inhabitants. It completely refutes the secular concepts of the Big Bang and Darwin’s ideas on evolution. It is also there we learn the answer to why we have sin, suffering, disease, and death. The foundation of the Gospel is laid in Genesis 3, where God promises to send a Savior through Eve to reverse the curse and restore the creation to God’s very good intentions.

In Genesis 1, 2, and 3, we learn why there are only two biological human sexes, why we have a seven- day week, God’s intentions for marriage to be between one man and one woman for life, God’s intentions for a family to have a daddy and a mommy, and why we have – and always will have – seasons.

If you continue reading Genesis, you will learn why there are millions of fossils buried in sedimentary rock layers all over the earth due to a global flood. You will also learn why there are different languages and people groups on the earth today with distinct physical characteristics. Genesis truly will equip you with a Biblical paradigm of origins. Using a Biblical paradigm, I see science confirming the Biblical account of creation constantly.

Whether we are beginning or continuing to develop our Biblical paradigm, the most important thing we can do for others around us is to disagree – firmly, vocally, and kindly! – when we detect anti-Biblical lies and deception.

For example, when I watch a documentary about sharks with my children and the narrator says “billions of years ago,” I immediately tell my children that is a lie. When I can, I avoid exposing my children to lies. When I cannot, I am vocal and quick to make sure they understand the lie they are being fed. And to combat the lies assaulting my children, I add frequent Bible teachings and daily affirmations of the truth of God’s Word.

I am grateful to the Lord for the many creation ministries which exist today, with websites, newsletters, magazines, and even daily emails. Creation ministries exist to combat the deception of the secular worldview which pervades public education, media, and government–where cosmological and biological evolutionary “theories” are presented as fact–and from which all secular reasoning of the world around us springs forth. These ministries offer so many great resources that help us to develop our Biblical paradigm.

If you want to do something more to take a stand against deception, I urge you to become a regular supporter of a creation ministry, either financially or with your talents and time.

Something we see in our daily lives and don’t give much thought to is trees. These staples of our world have very interesting ways of pointing back to our Creator. Let’s examine how just two species of trees give evidence of design.

Questions for Worldviews

Everyone has a worldview, and every worldview has questions that it must answer. The truth will naturally produce the best and most sensible answers, and the Bible does just that.
