2021 – What Can We Expect?
As every year passes into a new year, there are those who like to think they can predict what is going to happen in the future. This usually results in our finding out who is wrong and who may be lucky and guess correctly.
However, there are true prophecies that have stood the test of time, and we can find these in the Bible—the best history book in the world. Here’s a brief example from our Lord Jesus Christ spoken 2,000 years ago:
“For nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. And there will be famines, pestilences, and earthquakes in various places. All these are the beginning of sorrows.” (Matthew 24:7,8).
The Bible is unique with recorded prophecies written sometimes hundreds of years before the events actually took place. One outstanding case was the prophecy of Jesus that Jerusalem and the temple of God would be destroyed, which would be unthinkable to the Jewish people of that time. But in A.D. 70 forty years after Jesus uttered the prediction it actually happened just as He said:
“Not one stone shall be left upon another, that shall not be thrown down” (Matthew 24:2).
What about the other things Jesus prophesied would happen? We have seen His prophecies concerning these events fulfilled throughout the centuries. The twentieth century was one of the worst. Millions of innocent people were literally murdered by dictators like Stalin (750,000 political opponents executed, plus a million sent to concentration camps), Hitler, (up to ten million executed), Pol Pot (two million died of starvation and execution), Idi Amin, (300,000 massacred), not to mention the two world wars plus Korea, Vietnam and others. Today, millions of Christians are being persecuted and sometimes put to death in countries like China, Sudan, Pakistan, and several other geographical areas where being a Christian is dangerous to one’s physical survival. There is something in the heart of mankind that leads us to fight and not be able to get along with one another.
That something is sin. Sin is disobedience to God as seen in the Garden of Eden with Adam and Eve. Adam was not deceived, and intelligent as he was (he named the animals), he plunged this world into spiritual darkness and death (Romans 512). We live in a fallen world.
So what is the best source of information for understanding what the future holds? It is the Bible. In fact, the Bible gives us the most important knowledge about our future as individuals. I am talking about our eternal destiny when we pass into the life beyond the present. This is why we make sure our guests at Creation Experience Museum are given the gospel message as part of their tours. This is the most important thing we do.
